On May 10, 2025, Sevilla lost 3-2 to Celta de Vigo in LaLiga. The match had a dramatic course, especially for Sevilla.  Celta opened the scoring in the 18th minute through Ilaix Moriba. Sevilla equalized just before half-time thanks to a penalty from Nemanja Gudelj, after a handball by Marcos Alonso. Celta recovered in the second half, despite being one man down after Alonso's red card. Óscar Mingueza put Celta back in the lead in the 64th minute, followed by Borja Iglesias who extended the lead in the 90th minute. Kike Salas scored for Sevilla in extra time, but it was too late for a comeback.

Gudelj was one of the few bright spots for Sevilla. He scored the equalizing goal just before half-time and was active in midfield. Afterwards he expressed his frustration about the defeat: "It is a very painful defeat. After the first half, in which we went to rest with one man more, we were confident for the second half. But it didn't go as hoped."
